You are invited to visit Soggy Bottom Holdings on Saturday 24th February with a combined group of Mid-North Island Rare Breedsters and Dexter Society people. We hope to be shown around the farm and an on-site butchery and business.
THE VENUE: Soggy Bottom is a small mixed farm which is environmentally and economically sustainable. It is a 60-acre block of rough, hilly farmland beside the Hakarimata range north of Hamilton. Owners, Jono and Sarah Walker, farm free range pigs (Tamworths and Wessex Saddlebacks), Belted Galloway cattle, sheep and poultry. The animals are slaughtered at an abbatoir and processed in the on-site butchery at the farm. They sell the proceeds at local farmers markets.
DIRECTIONS: 298 Te Puroa Road, RD 1, Ngaruawahia. If coming from Hamilton, turn left on to Waingaro Road from the main road (ex. SH1), cross the railway and Waipa River and drive past the Christian Youth Camp and Fulton Hogan Quarry; pass Clark Road and 2nd road on right is Te Puroa Road. Soggy Bottom is 5km from SH1 on the right as you drive south along Te Puroa Road.
COST: No cost but Jono and Sarah will have meat from the farmers market and ready to sell to all customers.
